You are always making the argument that the game is for the majority, not
the vocal minority.

How about you start a continent-wide referendum asking people if they want
it to continue?

That would solve the problem one way or another -- either the majority wants
it, or the majority wants it to end.  Or perhaps it's somewhere in the
middle and all of the "nobody wants this to continue" whiners would lose
their argument and either leave the island or work towards the solution.
