Can either you, or Chung, elaborate a little, other than "it depends"?

I see archers advancing forward to get better shots when there seems no 
reason for them to do so - but I can't report that as a bug unless I 
understand the intended movement in the first place.

Why, for example, does an archer unit with a range of 3, which is 3 
columns away from the enemy, move forwards?
