To me the difference is that a judge is risking his political life, or
should be, for banning somebody for wearing ugly socks.  If it was ok to ban
inactive, then he could say 'player is inactive, by law is banned' and be
done with it.  Now he has to make up false charges, which open the door for
backlash.  If the judge had enemies this would be a great time to slander
him for trumping charges.

See, there really is no other way, because if we put in special protection
people will just go inactive to protect them from political or criminal
mistakes and then lawyer their way out of a valid ban.

So the best thing we can do is promote the protesting of corrupt judges.
