it was stated before that if someone was king, then it's expected other 
characters would know about it.

but what about if position does not show up in the family history? eg... 
rulership/government position not showing up (related to dodgy 
elections), lordships elected rather than appointed.

if for example, somewhere down the line there is a "step down from 
position" entry, would other characters be expected to know that the 
character had held such a position? (even worse.. when there's no step 
down entry!)
