Roleplay from Lek

Elrdred had thought his mistress would be devastated after the scene
with Sennianus, but Lek had watched him walk away with a smile on her
face. She had greeted El effusively and let him bind her wound, not
having even noticed him until the Viking had left her sight. Other than
telling El to have a man watch him, she hadn’t mentioned Sennianus
again, but had still spent the last couple of days in seemingly good
cheer. He was baffled.

Today, she had disappeared for hours without any word, and when she
returned she was beaming, El decided to broach the topic; he was
concerned, “My lady, I wonder…you seem to be in quite good spirits, but
I thought that…maybe…you would be a trifle…disheartened…at this time.”

Lek laughed, “Disheartened?! El, I’ve never been so happy! He’s back!
He’s here! And he loves me!”

Elrdred frowned at her, “But, my lady, he said that…”

“Oh, El! I know what he *said*! But I can tell that he loves me; and
I can tell that he wants me—only a fool could have missed *that*! I
still have a few tricks up my sleeve, me boyo, and I promise you this:
that man will be back in my bed before the end of the week—maybe sooner.

“Anyway, El, tonight we are having a party! Procure some more ale and
tell the men. And make certain that you invite the Beserkergang,” she
indicated the men at the next campsite, “I doubt their master will join
us, but my Brutes should befriend his men. I expect that we will be
fighting closely with them in the future. So, put out the word,
everyone is welcome—I’ve arranged some music, and there will be dancing.”

El busied himself complying with her wishes, wondering exactly what she
had in mind.

As dusk fell, the men gathered around the campfire, cracking open the
ale kegs and welcoming visitors. The mood was light, and Lek was
laughing with them all—drinking ale from the massive mug that Lynch had
given her, and generally making merry.

When the Travellers arrived at their camp, Elrdred was about to have
them shooed away when Lek rushed to greet them, talking to them in some
strange cant he didn’t know. She accepted a large bundle from one of
the swarthy men who were bearing a variety of musical instruments. “El,
please make my friends at home; I’ve hired them to provide the music,”
and she vanished into her tent.

When the musicians began to play, the party grew even more festive. The
music was different than what the men usually heard, but they enjoyed
its infectious sound. They played for quite some time, and Elrdred was
beginning to wonder if Lek was ever going to come out when she hissed at
him from her tent. “El, tell them that I’m ready—the musicians—they
know what to do.” Perplexed, he informed the man he took to be the
leader that, “My lady is ready,” and, with a nod, the musicians ended
their tune, leaving only the drums pounding.

Lady Lek Kindon (Lord)

Roleplay from Sennianus the Mad

Sennianus looked at the hourglass in his tent and watch the sand pour
from one side to the other. Not his favourite pastime, but it wasn't
like he had much else to do anyway. The Praetorian Legion was returning
from a campaign in the north, it would still be a day or two before they
would travel back to the frontlines in force. He had no gold for
entertainment, not even enough to allow his men some training. He
cheered up when captain Konrad arrived with news of a party being
hosted, but that cheer was quickly replaced with frustration when he
learned who was the host.

"Lek is throwing a feast?" he asked, "Tell her I'll have to pass up on
that invitation..."

Konrad shook his head. "Not just you, sir. The entire unit has been
asked to come."

Sennianus smiled. "Then go, you fool! Just because I'm not going doesn't
mean you lot should have a boring night."

"Are you sure you're not coming, sir?" Konrad insisted, "I mean... your
reputation preceeds you."

Sennianus waved his hand, his back turned towards Konrad. "Not tonight,
Konrad. I'm not in a very festive mood."

"Very well, sir. I'll inform the men that they are off duty for the
night. Is there anything else?" Konrad asked.

"Yes... If you're not out of my tent in five seconds and enjoying
yourself in fifteen minutes, I'll gut you like a fish." Sennianus said
jokingly.

About an hour later, he laid flat on his back in his tent, as he heard
the festivities in the distance. At first it had just been drunken
laughter and the clinking of mugs, but after a while, music started
playing as well, which only added to the mood. And was that Konrad he
heard shouting drunken obscenities? He cursed himself for setting up
camp so close to her... He finally got fed up with being bored and
alone, and decided to check out the scenery. He went into the armory
tent and dressed himself as one of his soldiers. He put on a leather cap
and pulled it down as far as he could. With a bit of luck, Lek wouldn't
recognise him between the crowd dressed like that. But deep down, he
hoped she would.

Sennianus carefully made his way to Leks camp. As he got closer, the
noise became louder. Two drunken soldiers crossed him, arms wrapped
around eachother's shoulders, stumbling forward as they sung drinking
songs. He recognised one of them as one of his own men, the other was
apparently one of Leks Brutes. "How ironic...", he said to himself.
Finally, he reached the party. He sat down next to one of the Brutes,
who had fallen asleep on a table, his head resting on top of some
roasted swine. The soldier suddenly veered upright. He looked at
Sennianus and seemed to recognize him.

"Heeey... iss Sennianus!" he slurred loudly, "Welcome to ze parsy!"

Sennianus quickly silenced the soldier by holding his hand over the
Brute's mouth. "Shut up, I don't want people to know I'm here." he hissed.

The soldier nodded. As soon as Sennianus removed his hand, the Brute
fell face down in his roasted swine again. Before long, he was snoring
loudly. Then, suddenly, the musicians stopped playing, apart from the
percussions...
