The light drizzle amplified the occasional winter breeze stripping the
warmth from his face. Thalathafn pulled his heavy cloak tighter around his
armour as he urged his horse forward through the streets of Remton. The
beast snorted and tugged on the reins flicking her head to rid the water
from her mane. After a day bustling with news and excitement, the settling
dusk ushered the peasantry into their homes to escape the cold. With the
ceremony over and the royal bloodline set, Thalathafn took the chance to
reflect on the past year. It was last winter when he stumbled upon the
orphanage in Lantaz. The winters had been particularly harsh on them, but
Lantaz now flies an Ethialan banner. But it wasnt only Lantaz, Arcaea had
suffered considerable losses over the past year. Having been besieged on all
sides by four realms the situation seemed dire, but the onslaught had since
ceased. Very much had changed in the inner circle as well. Many of the
government seats had been sat upon by different lords. He himself had gone
from a lowly hedge knight to Marshal of the Field of Honour. Although he
hadnt found everything he was looking for, like the frost on the Arcaean
country side he had begun to settle in.
