Roleplay from Lek Kindon

Bane suddenly stiffened in Lek’s arms; drawing back, Lek realized that
her sister was staring over her shoulder at, yes, Sennianus, standing
there in all his Viking glory. Bane was blushing beet red and did not
seem to know where to look, but also couldn’t tear her eyes away,
alternately staring, then looking about wildly, then staring again.

Lek laughed, “Bane, this is my love, Sennianus; Sennianus, my sister
Bane.” She smiled at them both proudly, “My two favourite people in the
world! Now, make yourself absent, beloved, and let us talk in peace. I
believe that my sister finds you a bit…intimidating.” Waggling his
eyebrows at her once more, Sennianus left them alone.

The sisters talked for some time, catching up on family news before
delving into Bane’s change of status. “I never liked you being a
priestess,” Lek told her sister tightly, “It changed you, took you away
from me.”

“The Gods called, me Alekennia; I did what I thought was right,” Bane
spoke sharply, then softened, “But, for that matter, it took me away
from myself. I am done with that now, though, and just…just trying to
find my way back.”

Lek winced at the sound of her full name, “Gods, Rebanielle, do not say
that in front of Sennianus; I will never hear the end of it! You don’t
say mine, and I won’t say yours.” she smiled at her sister, “I am glad
to see you, Banie, and so glad to have you back.” She studied her
sister’s face, “There is something….something that you haven’t told me
yet…Aha! There’s a man, by the Gods! Bane Kindon, you love, too!”

Bane flushed hotly and dropped her eyes. “I have…made a friend…since I
came here. Through letters—he writes the most lovely letters—and we
have grown quite…close.”

Lek snorted at her sister, “Letters? How do you ‘grow close’ that way?
  I prefer more direct methods.”

“I did meet him…once…and he was even more lovely in person. Far too
lovely, really. I can not think what he might see in me.”

“And does he…see something in you?” Lek asked her blushing sister gently

“Well, I think so, maybe. He says he does. But, Lek, he said I was all
sorts of lovely things. He even said that I was…beautiful. And I know
that we are not. Especially not me, not with this,” she tugged at her
short curls, and looked enviously at Lek’s long locks. “Since when do
you wear your hair all loose like that, anyway?”

“Since, when I’m not training or fighting, the big lug likes it this
way. Hold on,” Lek walked to the door and called for Sennianus. He
arrived in short order, with a sheet wrapped around his waist. Lek
waggled her brows at him in her turn, “Cute! That’s a good look for
you. Now, beloved, a serious question…who is the most beautiful woman
in the world?”

He smiled that soft, warm smile that always made her feel weak, and
stroked a finger across the scar on her forehead, “You are, my love.”

She grabbed his hand and kissed it, “Never as beautiful as you, beloved
idiot. Now, off you go again,” and she sent him from the room.

Bane sputtered at her sister, “That’s just ridiculous! You are not the
most beautiful woman by far!”

“Of course I’m not. But *he* thinks I am. He loves me. Don’t you know
that love makes everything beautiful, my silly sister?” So, if this man
tells you that you are wonderful and beautiful, then enjoy it, because
to him, you are.”

“What happened to you, Lek?” Bane gaped at her sister, “I never thought
that you would love any man. Not for more than a night, anyway.”

“I met Sennianus. And he is mad and brave and beautiful and sweet and
quite often a fool, but I could not do anything but love him. There
will never be another man for me,” Lek absently ran a finger across a
scar on the palm of her left hand, “I cannot live without him.”
