You hear some interesting reports - more gossip, if you will, from some 
local people at the markets - that Sir Frederick is going to have a 
baby, that Lady Ain has got new knickers, and that the whole of Menedor 
is bankrupt and may already be in anarchy, with nobles in Menedor having 
to beg for rags from peasants in order to make ends meet.

You wonder whether you should investigate further...
