A few hours later, Jens reached a bare arm out across the wide feather bed.
The spot where Duchess Annaej had lain was still warm, but the Lady herself
was gone.

Jens smiled happily. At last, some sleep! He snuggled deeper into the pillow
and started to drift off when he heard the door handle rattle slightly and
light from the corridor entered the room.

"Ah, jeez!" he thought. "Not again!"



Amelie opened the doors to the dimly lit bed chamber. The two women entered
walking side by side, the flickering candle light marring their image.
Finally one of them spoke softly, but her voice carried in the silence of
night, "Jens have you enjoyed your stay in my estate, I am still waiting for
this present you wish to present in person."
