*Widfara gazed upon the unlucky victims from a nearby administration
building as his men dragged up 8 men to the gallows,with much intimidation
and cuffing them and all the usual wanton brutality associated with hanging
of independence freaks.

As they were lined up on the gallows before the assembled crowd, Widfara
nodded to his captain, who gave the order. The row of bodies dropped, to a
gasp of disgust from the crowd. Reports came in from other parts of the
city, but Widfara spared them only a cursory glance. Dishonour's Deterrent
dispersed the crowd, with sufficient hostility to indicated that if anyone
tried to speak up, they would be next.

But Widfara turned from the crow,with memories flashing through his mind. A
young girl in a stronghold, an apparition in the badlands, a strong duellist
with a face like murder, darkness, clawing at a cage and oddly enough, some
woman shouting abuse at pudding eaters filled Widfara's mind as he walked
away from the hanging, shaking his head as if to get rid of a fly*
