He had all but given up hope when he returned to Anacan, only wishing to
faithfully serve the city of his youth. But so much had change since then,
with a new government and half the cities populaton having left, Anacan was
a much different place. The family estate was empty, his foster parents had
left looking for more stability. He had tried to help the situation but his
oaths were repeatedly rejected by regional lords who had all the knights
they wanted. Anacan was no longer the home he remembered.

He didnt understand why the army was being sent away to foreign lands to aid
an ally when there was an enemy on the doorstep, but it didnt matter. This
was the chance he needed to find a foreign lord to offer his services, the
measily 5 gold he got in Cathay just wasnt cutting it. Through his travels
he had learned his birth mother was from Arcaea, though he didn't know much
else. He was delighted when the letter he sent ahead had returned and the
oath accepted. He pushed his unit forward over the bridge towards the
distant city of Lasop.
