Péché entered the City of Iato, awe evident on her face. It was by no
means the biggest city she had been in, Wudenkin seemed ten times
larger. It was by no means the most beautiful city she had been in,
York, her home city on Atamara, was much more beautiful in her eyes.
What it was, was the western gateway into the forest in which Eretzism
was founded. Every Sage she had met that had crafted an item for her,
whose ranks now numbered four, had told her, each more vehemently than
the last, that the gods of Eretzism were the ones helping forge the
mystical items they made.

Her quest was to find her father. She knew very little about him. She
knew that he was thrust into the roles of Duke of York and Judge of
Hasland as a very young Noble in its dying days. She knew that he had
departed Hasland when it had inevitably fallen for Beluaterra. That
was where her knowledge of him ended. She had asked at every
opportunity about someone who might know of her father, but his work
on Atamara was likely nothing of note here on Beluaterra, and even if
it were, it was likely outshone by his work here over the last
twenty-odd years, or so she imagined. But she persevered. She was
determined to show him, when she did meet him, that she was worthy of
his patronage.

She had two recommendations already and she was arriving in Iato to
get her third, or so she hoped. She was from Avalon and was at war
with Enweil. She had put out a call to those of Eretzism about her
newest addition to her mystical items catalogue, the "Illuminated
Scroll of the Blessed", and Duke Oliver had responded. He had given
her his word that even if she were to be imprisoned, he would use his
power to ensure that she was released. She didn't know this Duke and
from her time in York, she knew that the word of a Noble to a peasant
was not always something that they kept. He was a member of Eretzism,
though, and she hoped that it would lead her closer to her father. It
was a risk she was willing to take.

She arrived at the keep in Iato and informed the guard that Duke
Oliver was expecting her. The guard scoffed, looked her over and made
a comment about her being expecting once he and his friends were done
with her. She knew the look on his face and fled before it could
become something more than a look. She went to the next gate and had
more luck there. Though the guard was just as incredulous, his Captain
overheard the conversation and ushered her into the Keep having been
personally informed of the coming adventuress.

Finally, she was ushered in to see Duke Oliver. She knelt before him
and awaited his permission to speak. "Duke Oliver, I hope this Scroll
will help Eretzism." She reached into her cloak and removed the scroll
case from its confines. She removed the Scroll from its case and it
bathed both her and the Duke with light. She looked up at Duke Oliver,
"You can do more with it than I ever could."

Duke Oliver's eyes went wide when the Scroll was exposed. As Péché
spoke, he glanced down at her illuminated face and his eyes went even
wider. The resemblance was unmistakable.
