Evangeline watched the Duke circle the 'rooftop', while she tried to
maintain the most central position, still being buffeted by the wind.
Perhaps it was the fact that she was lighter than Screndt or her heavy
skirt that seemed to catch the wind much like a sail, but she was having
a difficult time keeping steady.

Not hearing what Screndt was saying, she started to recall the heated
senate discussions recently. The insinuating slurs against her
capabilities and her equally smart remarks in return. 'Why had he
invited her up here?'

He turned to face her and the wind carried the words distinctly to her,

"Who took it from us?"

Virtually kneeling before Screndt to keep steady, Evangeline cursed for
allowing herself to be in this position. Her pride quickly overcame her
fear for her safety and she rose to stand tall with a defiant tilt to
her chin, just as the wind chopped and surged. The skirt that she had
held gathered, slipped from her hands and she was blown backwards, one
foot slipping over the edge. Gasping with shock she looked up at
Screndt, suddenly realising that kneeling hadn't been a bad option afterall.
