Arin was in Aix. He was there for other business, but had bumped into
his brother Maelg in the marketplace. Maelg had relayed his worries
regarding the Queens visit to Aix, and had asked Arin to see if
everything was ok. He agreed, as he loved his sister-in-law, and would
never want to see anything done to hurt her. He made his way to the castle.

Slinking past the outer gates of the castle, Arin made his way around to
the rear where it backed onto the cliff. There were no guards here, as
this side was virtually impenetrable.

Arin, pulling out some of his special climbing tools, used many times to
'visit' higher ranking officials who thought they were safely tucked
inside their castle walls, began to scale the outer wall. He could see
the windows of one of the upper chambers was lit. As he went to peer
into the window, it was unexpectedly flung open, almost dislodging Arin
from his tenuous hold on the wall. There was the stench of cooked
brocolli, that disgusting odour that reminded him of a horses rear end.

Was he trying to choke the Queen with noxious gases? went through his
mind as he regained purchase on the wall with his other hand.

He could hear the voices of Screndt and Evangeline, neither seemed too
stressed, so put the stench down to the Dukes bad diet, and trying to
diffuse it before it reached the Queens nostrils.

Chancing a look through the opened window, he spotted the Queen and Duke
making their way up some stairs. Looking up, Arin spied a parapet not
too far above, and made his way there. Looking over the ledge carefully,
he noticed it was unoccupied. He climbs onto the ledge and dislodges a
gargoyle, which crashes to pieces on the ground far below, pulls his
cloak around him, and takes it's place on the ledge, waiting patiently.
