He leaned back in, extending his hand and shouted over the wind, "Will
you join me?"

Evangeline looked warily at the short ladder and the opening to the
unprotected and exposed rooftop. Inhaling sharply she climbed the
ladder, her court shoes slipping slightly on each rung and her legs
trembling. Reaching up she felt Screndt's warm hand enclose hers and she
gladly accepted his help onto the windy rooftop.

Her hair whipped wildly about her head, stinging as it flicked her eyes.
Using a leather thong she tied it back out of the way, and only then did
she notice the astounding view. It reminded her of the small models that
the military advisors sometimes used when planning campaigns. The
beautiful, green countryside, the dark, green forests of Dimwood and the
view of the ocean that seemed to continue forever blurring where it met
the skyline.

A particularly strong gust of wind made her wobble and she crouched
slightly to stabilise. Looking up she saw Screndt staring into the
distance. He was taller and much bigger than her anyway, but standing
braced against the wind he looked unstoppable.

Trying to stand a bit straighter, she stood next to him and murmured,

"The view truly is spectacular"
