[RPG][ATA][Eston] Noble for hire

"Will that be paper or leather?" he asked his latest customer.  Even his 
best smile failed to penetrate the dour gloom of his situation.

Sarigan couldn't believe it had come to this.  He was the scion of a 
distinguished and noble line, now reduced to selling brandy bottles filled 
with fish oil in the dingiest slums of Hawthorne.  Quincy, his personal 
physician now doubled as a cook, clerk, bodyguard and even the occasional 
chair, as required.

"If my brother ever gets wind of this, I'll never live it down," he said to 
no one in particular.  Quincy was too busy practicing his array of 
furniture-poses to pay any attention.

WHACK

The sword cut the fish's head clean off.  His hands reeking of aquatic 
innards, Sarigan squeezed out all the fleshy bits from the rotten fish into 
an equally foul-smelling pewter bowl.

"I won this at a tourney, I think.  Best runner-up for tenth place out of 
eleven at the junior sea badger's tea tournament in Akanos.  That was years 
ago.  Now I'm using it as a sorting tray for fish guts."  He glanced over at 
his sword, eyes lingering where the jewels had been removed from the hilt 
and pommel.  Its blade was nicked and warped from abuse.

"I swear, Quincy, the next undead horde or rampaging gaggle of monsters we 
meet will find me in a particularly foul mood.  Whatever homicidal madmen I 
can convince to join me after this sorry escapade will no doubt get their 
swords stuck in each other, but I'll take at least one of the bastards down 
before I end up back in the infirmary!"

"Did you mean the monsters, or your own men, milord?" asked Quincy.

"WHICHEVER I CAN REACH FIRST!!!" cried the lord, thrusting his chest out and 
leaning towards the nearby table in an effort to provide a dashing and 
dignified pose.

CRASH

Apparently the table had chosen that particular moment to go take a leak.
