Gauihu hadn't personally heard of Darmargo nor the Atkil'Rohar Family until
that day.
But the sheer number off previous bans and deportations had changed things.
Gauihu now knew that by most standards in decent realms, Darmargo had no
nobility nor deserved any of the rights of nobles. Here was a man who had
not yet violated Abington, but his reputation was such that this no longer
mattered.
When he did hear that he could execute the Darkan criminal who attacked him
the other night, he smiled a quiet smile. War was not without it's
pleasures. And what could be a better pleasure than to make the Darkans pay
in blood? Armies could be rebuilt, but blood less easily so.
The city-folk, travelers and residents alike, gathered in the town square
for the execution. Darmargo was bought by oxcart from the dungeon he had
remained only a day since he was captured. The man, blindfolded and gagged,
was brought to a thick wooden table on the platform. The gag was removed in
order for this manner of execution to continue.
Gauihu watched as he had his men perform the Fitting. He didn't do it
himself - that would look too personal and cause a few nobles to question
when otherwise they wouldn't.
He heard the gasp of the crowd as the man was brutally and slowly executed;
he heard the gurgling, screaming sound as he choked. But beyond that he
heard a thrumming, vibrating sound of power as it pulsed in his blood. He
heard it's alluring drumbeat fade, leaving him in quiet contemplation.
The guilty punished, Gauihu left the town square and hurried to get to his
day's travels. He neither knew nor care what happened to the criminal's body
after that.
