Lyse had been sent free, it appeared as if her uncle somewhere around had
heard about her and agreed to pledge the ransom.
As she collected her affairs, she saw a young messenger approaching her, who
looked rather timid. "What is it, boy?" she asked, amused. "This, m'lady",
he replied, handing over a scroll case. It looked rather filthy, but was
apparently well made and well-sealed. She could see what appeared to be a
royal seal of some sort on it, but did not recognise it. "Open it for me,
shall you boy?" she asked, not willing to grab the filthy case, and the
messenger, after a few moments, managed to do so. She quickly came and took
the contents away, snarking "Don't dirty my papers now, boy."
---
She unrolled it, and quickly realised what it was, but she had to read the
beginning twice anyways. "Leave me!", she resquested as her eyes were
watering. "How could this be!?", she thought.
She continued reading, for a while, the tears were increasing. "Brother...",
she whispered. Memories of old came back, it was all she could think of.
Playing with her older brother in their farmlands of Shiverwood. They didn't
own much of these lands though, but she could remember their escapades in
the woods, his eversmiling face. He was so gentle with her, he always seemed
to know what he was doing...
She put the papers aside, which were getting rather wet, as she couldn't
stand reading it anymore. She know Jean-Olivier wasn't the same anymore, but
she wouldn't bring herself to accept it, she couldn't accept that he had
changed so much. He had always been the ambitious, cheerful and happy-to
serve knight to her, a man full of respect which others enjoyed to have
around. He was so graceful, she admired him so much as a child...
---
She cried for a while alone, no one would understand anyways, nobody
understood her brother Jean like her. She didn't want any company, she
couldn't accept it. To them, it might be the "King of Fwuvoghor who died in
battle", to her, it was just the loss of her beloved brother Jean...
