Lek did not believe the dispatch that she was reading. They had not
deported Sennianus—her Sennianus—they could not deport him! It had been
worrying enough that he had been imprisoned, but this…

“Elrdred! EL!” she shouted.

“My lady, what is wrong?”

“El, Sennianus has been deported. Send two of the boys back to Korlock
immediately—rent them horses. I want them to get to Sennianus’
encampment and collect his gear. I expect his men will have already
deserted and I don’t want his belongings scavenged. Go, go!”

“Oh, my lady, I…”

“Move, El!”

Lek stormed out of the tent, rage bubbling within her. Unlike the
Torenite scum, she had always thought the Ikalaks to at least be noble
opponents, but they had proved themselves to be as worthless and
cowardly as any Yak. She wished that she had killed more of them in
Korlock. She wished she were killing more of them right now, especially
that bastard Sponge. By all that was holy, she wanted to smash something.

How long would she have to wait for him to return?

Gods, what if he never came back?
