Roleplay from Sennianus the Mad

Sennianus approached Lek, holding the tip of his blade before her. "My
sword.", he said coolly. Kill her! Kill them all!, resonated through his
head. Do it now and protect your honor! The tone of the voice became
more aggressive every time it was heard.

As much as Sennianus tried to ignore it, part of him wanted to obey,
part of him wanted to punish Lek for this... His arm trembled as he took
the sword from Lek. When she looked him in the eyes, he felt both love
and hatred. The tip of his sword now touched her chest. Do it now! Do
it!. He pushed the tip a millimiter deeper. A drop of blood appeared.
Lek didn't move, didn't even flinch.

Then, something inside Sennianus snapped. "Betrayal knows only death!",
he yelled, and he raised his sword overhead. With all his power, he
hacked at Leks head. She closed her eyes and awaited certain death, but
the blade stopped an inch above her head. Time seemed to have frozen.
The alerted guards stood still at the entrance. Lek stood before
Sennianus, looking at the sword that hung dangerously close to her face.
What are you waiting for? Kill her!

"NO!", Sennianus shouted. He dropped both swords and fell to his knees
holding his head , screaming loudly. He got to his feet and ran outside,
without looking back.

Roleplay from Lek

Lek stood still. Time stood still.

She could feel the cold steel pressing into her, could feel a trickle of
blood running down her breast. She was afraid to speak, afraid to
breathe. She looked into Sennianus eyes and didn't know him. Where was
her roguish companion; where was her sweet lover? She didn't understand
what was happening.

Suddenly, he screamed something at her and swung his sword up. Lek
closed her eyes, but she could feel the rush of air as the sword swung down.

He was going to kill her.

But, the blow didn't fall. Lek opened her eyes to see Sennianus holding
the sword a bare fraction above her unprotected head. She could see only
death in his stare, and he seemed to stare at her for a hundred years.

He was going to kill her.

He shouted again, "NO!" and fell to his knees. Still Lek didn't move.
Her guards, began to move towards him, but he scrambled up and ran out,
barrelling past them.

Everyone was talking at once and hands were grabbing at her. Someone was
wrapping a blanket around her and someone was bathing her cut. Lek
looked down at the oozing blood dispassionately and thought, "That's
going to scar."

"He was going to kill me," her voice sounded strange to her own ears,
"He was going to kill me!" she said again, more loudly. She looked up to
see Elrdred pressing a cup of hot tea into her hands. He wiped her face,
which Lek was surprised to find wet with tears. "Why, El? Why? He was
going to kill me, I could see it in his eyes."

"Lady Lek, this man loved you," his voice was gentle, "and he found you
here, with Silas."

She was confused, "Well, he should have said he was coming, and I would
have sent Silas away sooner."

"Lady Lek, when people are in love, they most often do not bed with others."

She narrowed her eyes at him, "All men say they love you, that's what
men do! I never pledged my love to him!" She could feel anger starting
to burn within her--anger and shame--she had stood there and done
nothing while he held a sword against her.

"Lady Lek, you love this man."

Lek threw the tea across the tent, "I gave him no vow! I am who I've
always been--if he thought he loved me, then he should have known me
better." She gestured wildly at the soldiers crowding into the tent,
"And where were all of you while the bastard was almost killing me?!"
Now she was raging, "Get me my damn armour; I'm going to kill him!"

"My lady, we have orders. We are to move to Ibyp."

"I said, bring. me. my. armour. And everyone get out. Get out! OUT!"

Alone in the tent, Lek saw Sennianus' swords lying on the ground. She
dropped to her knees where he had fallen and wept. Dear gods, what he
had screamed had been "Betrayal".
