Danzi lent against the cool stone wall, allowing it to support her. The 
shadows were growing long as the sun began to set and in the centre of 
the town square the duel preparations were being made.

Thoid had asked for no spectators, but there was the general crowd of 
squires, healers and moderators. As well as a few lesser nobles watching 
from windows and crevices in curiousity. With odd detachment she watched 
as Thoid and Edwin readied their swords and faced one another.

For all the waiting and delaying, the duel seemed over so quickly. The 
clash of swords rang clear and true across the square as they seemed 
closely matched. Danzi tensed when after a sudden clash they both 
crumpled to the ground.

Dashing to Edwin's side, she heard his breath shudder. The sword had 
entered his side, finding the small gap between his Cuirass and 
Plackard. Fiddling frantically with the armour clasps as the healer 
arrived, they gently pulled the plates off together. Edwin groaned 
slightly as the healer began applying pressure to the wound.

"This is serious, but if no organs have been damaged, he may be okay" 
the healer explained to the strange woman, who seemed concerned. Danzi 
nodded silently. She touched Edwin's face, and remembered his words, "To 
be betrayed by you is to have been killed already."

 From nearby Thoid a shout went up, "The Knight Thoid was killed by duel 
today". Danzi sighed, it was over now. Leaning close to Edwin she 
whispered gently, "Goodbye", then kissed him softly.
