San wandered along the path east of his estate, looking out across the sea,
north west towards Ortedail and the fields of Dsinanas in the distance,
thinking of the dead.

He wondered of Brian, whether he would have wanted to see this - Lunaria
fighting Soliferum, doubtless, but the dissention in the nobles was
palpable. With a sigh, San thought of the old days where it was simple
enough, all political posing and occasional tournaments. Sure we argued, he
thought, but at lest the sides were clear, we always had our beliefes and
didn't offer destructive criticism as a matter of course. But Brian had fell
to the realm his family had always come from, where he himself had served
for a time.

Then there was the rest... San thought of Zeriel, with a sigh, grieving his
fallen cousin. And of course, thought of his murderer...

What could Nighthelm be thinking, harbouring that piece of scum? San cleched
his fist and swore under his breath. Nzer would show up here again sooner or
later... it was just a matter of waiting fopr him to slip up. But that would
be tough.

Turning for a moment to the east, San grimaced at the sight of all the
destruction. The eastern fields of Azohib had been pillaged by the Soliferum
raiders and the rebuilding was secondary next to actually extinguishing the
fires. It would take a few days, but San judged there was not too much
lasting damage done. Beyond that, though, the fields of Cutnipaniel burned
and there was an evil mist over it, where Soliferum slaughtered the peasants
into submission. A few Lunarian banners could be seen where the few
survivors of the doomed assault on Batesaor trudged home, and among them,
San noted, was Anya.

He sighed, resolving to talk to her as soon as possible. He had heard that
Tiernan had vanished without a word, but having a unit wiped out was hardly
a good way to deal with it.... Nighthelms judgement yet again...

He turned back as the wind blew cold, salty air in from the north, and
headed towards his estate.
