Duke Screndt adhered to the demands of his code and went to the aid of an
honourable Noble. He started towards his Queen who was already leaning over
the edge of the tower. He didn't have far to go, but neither did she. A
sudden gust from behind the Queen sent her skirt towards Screndt. He seized
the opportunity and pulled his Queen towards him, slowing her a great deal,
almost bringing her to a halt. And then the skirt was ripped from her body.

She began her fall again. Screndt had not banked on the skirt holding up
under such strain and had not stopped his forward progress. He started to
slide feet-first into the small wooden lip of the tower, all that remained
of the once-pointed roof. He swung the skirt out to his Queen, praying for
the wind to help. It obliged and the skirt came within her reach; she wasted
no time turning it into a death grip. Screndt's feet hit the lip of the
tower and he grabbed the Queen's bare leg. He pulled on the skirt and her
leg, bringing her towards the tower. That was when the lip gave way.

As they both started going over the ledge, Screndt thought to himself, *Who
the hell didn't put a gargoyle up here?*
