Somewhere in the void of impossibility, or perhaps mere unlikelyhood, the
spirits raged. Some of these spirits once had name, and form, but now had
neither. They knew only that on one small plane of existence, in one small
area of that plane, a source of dead had come to offer up into their midst
yet more spirits. Angered, vengeful spirits - but again, these without form,
or name.

And together they raged. The wanton cruelty, deception - and the mortal
concepts of dishonour, cowardice - angered them all. For they knew that even
whilest the mortal plane vomited up the dead into their midst on a daily
basis, the sacred connection they all shared with the living was being torn
assunder.

Willfully, soullessly, nay, without even a second thought, the ties that
bound them to the earth were being severed just as surely as heads and limbs
were severed from body. Once-proud, once-great names had been forgotten even
by the spirits which lived on, angered, plotting vengence, screaming into
the long black void of nothingness.

To no avail. The slaughter and persecution continued above. To the side, or
perhaps below, the spirits were helpless. Death reigned supreme on the
mortal plane, stalking ideas as well as beings. And so it was that much was
lost forever... whilest the mortals seemed merely to yawn with apathy.
