[RPG] [FEI][Eth] The end of wisdom?

Only vast metropolises require medical care in such amounts so that hospitals are organised. Topenah is such a metropolis. Walking amongst the sick and dying, Thrasymaque stares at every person lying in the large tending rooms. His thoughts are captivated by one idea: the end.

Why do I care so much? After all, everything ends. Better just make things as good as we can then use them as good as we can. What is the point of lasting?

No, longevity has a value. A wonderful realm may be nothing if it cannot carve its place in History. Time allows all kinds of will to realize; only lasting existence allows accomplishments worth remembering to be completed. Ethiala exists since now nearly two years, only several months have passed since Ethiala became stronger than all its neighbors but Lasanar. All realms face their dangers eventually; some are weakened while some others are strengthened. What makes the difference between prosperous realms and extinguished ones? Maybe it is something unalterable as luck or, worst, something dishonorable like lust. Maybe, also, a virtue is what really makes the difference

One type of realms appears to have a particular aptitude to last. Realms which react rightly in right circumstances can only improve. These realms are those ruled by wise leaders. Wisdom is the characteristic which provides the greatest potency to a nation’s posterity. Wisdom is a virtue that is to be upheld with the most rigorous assiduity.

The motto of Ethiala is “Justice – Honor – Wisdom”. It is read by all Ethialans from the moment I wrote it as King about a year ago. Ethiala indeed has a sense of honor which shines over the Far East since the very first days of its fragile existence. Justice has been slowly but very strongly integrated as the realm’s core virtue. Particularly under leaders such as Arch Priest Aethelwulf and King Osric whose courage is never short when justice or honor are threatened, these virtues are preserved exemplarily. The third virtue, which is very present in Ethiala but has a lesser establishment, is wisdom. I hope I can be seen as the defender of wisdom to assure Ethiala its complete glory.

Justice may incite to defend Valion and Setsuka, but honor is cold and wisdom disagrees. These two nobles, although they may be rightfully defending themselves against an unjust foe (but we ignore if the contrary is true), demonstrated no respect for honor by endangering Ethiala’s fate secretly for their personal cause. They are worth little but harm to Ethiala and Ethiala is worth them a mighty shield. Imagine what power they acquire if we pledge ourselves to their defence. They have powerful foes everywhere in the South and would be protected by a realm so mighty it could surely resist all their onslaughts. Imagine what damage they could cause, to the Far East as a whole. Only these members of a defeated guild trying to renew itself would benefit from such a future. Wisdom refuses it.

Thrasymaque ceases it think and writes his thoughts on a parchment. He has it sent to all nobles of the realm. Hoping they read it wholly despite its length, he satisfies himself as he now clearly expressed his concerns to his comrades. He hopes they will see it as fraternal as he tried to make it.
