[RPG] [FEI] Maltheo's Ghost

A short, weathered-looking man came up the road to Unotosa. His clothes were
tattered and he was almost skeletally thin, unshaven and unkempt. Elerik
Taim wasn't surprised to see a peasant down on his luck, nor particularly
surprised when he came directly to him. It was what he had to say that was
unexpected.

"I seek Elerik Taim, of the House of Olik," said the man.

Elerik blinked. He'd expected to be approached as a priest of Adaghar, not
called by name or house. "I am he," he said.

To his continued surprise, the man bowed deep and low. "I served your
brother in Soliferum, the Grand Lodge of Lunaria, the Antoza Commonwealth,
and finally in the League of Anacan. I am called Banad. I come to serve you
and bring you tidings of your brother's death."

Elerik tilted his head quizzically. "I have no brother, Banad. You must have
the wrong man."

Banad blinked. "You are of the House of Olik?"

"Yes," Elerik said warily.

"Then you know Maltheo, also of your house."

He hesitated a moment. "Aye, I know Maltheo, but he is a cousin. A
*distant*cousin."

Banad continued on. "I was his servitor up until his untimely demise. I have
much news to tell you. I see you are a man of the cloth - as was he; he was
the founder of the faith of Communionism. And he was a Ruler, for a time, of
a Realm on this continent."

Elerik thought this over. "I see. Well, I'd always wondered what became of
him, but I haven't seen him since I was extremely young. I'd be interested
in knowing more of this faith, since all I have are rumors."

"I shall tell you all that I know, milord! I shall serve you as I have him!"

Elerik smiled and placed a hand on the man's bony shoulder. "I am a Clan
Chief of Arcachon, but I have no need for formalities, or servants. Come,
let's get you some fresh clothes. And you look like you could use a meal?"

Banad managed a pained smile. "A-aye, I certainly could."

"Come, then, I know a good inn. You can tell me all about Maltheo after we
eat."
