*William's men were growing tired....it had been a suprise, to say the
least, to go from Nahad, to Idapur, and now, on the road to Ahael, with
another realm. But as the commander had said, home is where the heart is.
As they marched, from Zolon, they could tell where the border had been
crossed, freshly turned earth, showed where men had fallen, and more, had
been sent to rest with friends....some muttered, under their breath, as
William himself, riding a horse, kept watching three directions, behind, in
front, and to the side, for any suprises...as well, along the trip, William
simply removed his sash, his markings of the Generalship, and his former
career in the north....as if closing off a chapter in his book, for
good...or worse.
*As William watched for signs, he occasionally got notes, from different
commanders, some he remembered, before his exile, some new faces....and ones
once fought against, now, were allies....seems every day, a new
suprise....William checked the horse, and continued up the road*
Sir, when should we reach Ahael? We've been marching for 3 days....
You'll have plenty of time to rest, when we reach Ahael...from the last
report, the place seems well defended, so you'll have a short break.....
*a few nodded, archers shouldn't have to hike this much, he thought to
himself, then added, but if you want to live, be ready....*
