(META: To the rulers of the world...)

Respected Rulers, Noble Friends,

It is my pleasure to announce today the creation of a new state, based
out of Anacan - the League of Anacan. This League will hold the ideals
of the original Commonwealth close, and will strive to be what the
Commonwealth should have been. It will take a stand against tyrrany
and oppression wherever it is to be found. Its nobles shall no longer
be fat sheep, as they were in the Commonwealth, but brave lions. They
shall be warriors - of the sword, pen, or bushel.

I want to establish one thing - I am establishing this League on my
own initiative. Lu'an has gone blind and is suffering from, I beleive,
a mild dementia or delusion. He is no longer fit to rule the people of
Anacan and the surrounding states, and that is why I take these
measures. Lu'an is being invited to join, not to rule or lead but to
fight - because I still respect him as a brother warrior. The
remaining lands of the Commonwealth, I hope, will take this as a
catalyst to reform themselves under the nobles that remain there.

I am not Lu'ans puppet. Although I respect him and love him, I cannot
allow his illness to doom my people. I have done what I think is best
for my people - as I swore to do when I took my oath as Duke. In this
case, what is best for them was to withdraw from the Commonwealth. The
Commonwealth, as it was, was a realm of lax living and fat sheep for
nobles - lead by but a small social and military elite of lions. I
could no longer, in could conscience, have the beloved people of my
city play servant to that.

When a new government is established and stabilized within the
Commonwealth, I will negotiate with its new King to define a border
between our two lands. For example, Pates and Anospen, although
loosely sworn to the duchy of Taop, have historically been the
outlands of Anacan - as Taop was considered at first an outpost or
subcity. It is my hope that the League and the Commonwealth will be
able to live together in peace as two realms who have split on a path
where it was necessary, and remember the bond of brotherhood we once
shared.

I am yours, most respectfully,

Olwe of Toren
Prime Minister of League of Anacan, Duke of Anacan
