Olwe smiled, as one might smile at a slow child or a sick dog. His
grip on the shortblade relaxed slightly, and his deep blue eyes seemed
distant... as if remembering... After a few moments, he snapped back
to the present, but spoke with a wisp of nostalgia.

"Where I come from, stranger, the people tell tales of a Martyr - the
first King of Toren. There was a time of great evil, and the world was
in tumult. In the legend, the King gave up his life to save the White
Lion, the revered demigod and protector of the mountains. That is why
the Knights of Toren, even myself today, bear the White Lion in their
crest. But I digress... as he charged down to his death in battle, the
King is said to have shouted his last words, in a clarity and purity
of voice that stuck with his knights forever. Do you know what he
said?"

Olwe looked down, his face soft and sincere. Then he looked up again,
holding eye contact with the Toy.

"O death, where is thy victory? O death, where is thy sting?"

There was silence for a long minute. Then Olwe spoke up, lowering the
shortblade. He spoke with a smile, but one that showed just the
slightest bit of aggravation.

"Now, you crazed loon, hand over your letter and get you gone. I've
had enough of your inane ranting."
