The breakfast hastily eaten...the horses brought from the stables...goodbyes were said. Isolde secured two thin blades....one in each sleeve...secured by a leather tie the could easily be pulled loose...allowing the blades to slip into her hands....a third blade rested in a pocket designed just for that purpose...in the upper arm of her jerkin...and one hide quietly in her left boot....a daggar rested easily on her hip in its sheath...a beautiful peice of work...a gift from her mother...all the blades she carried had been gifts from her mother....on her back she slung her bow and a quiver of arrows....
Nodding to Gran and Da...she hugged them both....allowing her self the tears that fell while they were in the yard still....
Sean clapped her on the shoulder and said..."It is time we left lass....we've much ground to cover before nightfall..."
Wiping her eyes dry she smiled and Gran and Da and kissed them both....."I love you." was all she said as she mounted her horse and turned to ride off with Sean...a falcon following close as they rode out in fog shrouded morning...
The rode out hard...stopping for a meal at mid day...allowing the horses a small measure of rest...Sean seemed especially worried this time...Isolde wondered how close the pursuers truly were...and what secrets were still being kept from her..Her life had always been a myriad of moves from one family member willing to harbour her to another....but none would ever tell her why...and so she had treated each move as an adventure....though the romace of adventure had long worn of as Isolde moved from girl to young woman...and now with her mother's death she wanted answers more than ever....but it looked as if none would come...
The falcon swooped down and landed on Isoldes shoulder...digging talons into the leather jerkin...Isolde smiled...the bird had been a gift from her mother on one of the rare visits she had been afforded...a well trained bird...who seemed to be more watcher over the girl than hunting companion.
