This was not their first hostile encounter.  She had heard this voice
once before, yelling obscenities across a battlefield in--Upasael?
Akanos?--it mattered not.

Doyle's voice fell like a stone from atop the steps leading into the
heavily occupied dungeons of Colasan.  "Get rid of her."

She was wondering where that old Lasanarian hospitality had gone.

Despite her full expectancy of Doyle's words, a lump caught in Riamh's
throat.  Was it guilt that she now felt?  Regret?  Or something more
complicated than both?

She could hear the Captain of the Guard's footsteps approach...

Riamh awakes in a groggy, disillusioned state.  She's
blindfolded...her hands are bound at her back...someone is pulling her
up to sit against a wall...removing a gag that had been placed over
her mouth.  The floor is moving...the wall was made of planked
wood...creaking...swaying...waves.

She regains full awareness just before a spoonful of lukewarm gruel
touches her lips...

...she turns away.
