Thrasymaque stands, idle, in the middle of the hall of the Ducal Palace of Topenah. In his hands, he holds a letter King Osric received yesterday and a report he just received:

  Letter from a foreign dungeon
Your troop leader Riamh Aice, currently in prison in Colasan, has sent a letter:

Blast...it appears I may die in this hellhole. If this should be the case, send Thrasymaque my love.

  Noble has left
Riamh Aice has been deported to the South-East by Doyle, Prime Minister and Grand Justiciar of Colasan, Duke of Colasan.

His head is empty. He mind is passive. He has no though, only memories occupy his soul. He remembers when he first met Riamh on the battlefield of Pesol, while Ethiala was conquering that region from the Highland Empire. They liked each other from the first moment, despite being on opposite realms at war. He remembers when he was King of Ethiala and she was Dictator of the Highland Empire, and how he abandoned her and her realm to a conquest by Lasanar. How guilty he felt toward her ever since. He remembers their secret meetings in the woods of Arempos; when they were so close
so close yet so far away. Today, she is away
 truly away

But she is not dead! The worst did not happen. Somewhere, on a boat then on another continent, she lives. Her serenity will live on, her sincerity will not falter. He believes it, he wants to believe it. He will see her again, they will be together again. One way or another.

Trying to feel serene himself, he slowly walks toward his room. As he meets his scribe who, seeing the Duke’s blank face, asks him if everything is all right. Thrasymaque violently throws the man on the ground and pushes over a table which loudly breaks in parts. Arriving in his room, his library grasps his attention. He remembers a novel he read, once, long ago, when he was a young teenager. An absurd novel, for young girls indeed. An absurd story

He takes a piece of papyrus and a pen. Without a moment of reflection, he writes a short letter and puts it in a bottle. Leaving his room in a hurry, he moves toward his scribe whose instinct makes him flee from his lord but Thrasymaque catches him after a short run. He tells him to move to the north of Arcachon and throw that bottle in the ocean. Without daring a question, the scribe nods and leaves Topenah. In the letter, the ink shows:

Whoever receives this letter is to deliver it to Lady Riamh Aice. A wealthy Duke of the Far East will reward the helper generously.

  Very dear Lady Riamh

It is with mixed feelings that I learned of your deportation. As I am saddened by your departure, I rejoice that you are alive. This event creates in me the greatest regrets I ever felt. So long have you lived by my side and never did I have the courage to live the life I wish to live. Now that you are away, I find this courage but I loose the possibility.

Please, come back to Ethiala. Do not despair alone in a foreign land; come back as soon as you possibly can. I will wait here for you, or for a message from you, for as long as it takes.

  Your oldest friend
