*Hireshmont pushes open the doors of the royal palace. He walks
through the quiet halls as the people travel the streets, openly
weeping and mourning. He sees the many ornate and artistic chairs
that King Marc was so fond of. The palace was not even locked, there
was no need. No peasant would dare steal from it, they loved the King
too much. They had always loved him.*
*Hireshmont picked up a sword there, King Marc's sword. The Royal
Crown had been taken along with King Marc, and Riombara wasn't likely
to return it, but the sword had been kept. King Marc didn't have it
with him; he had been busy on a peaceful mission of beurocracy and
administration when he was captured.*
*Hireshmont spots the throne, and walks up to it, placing his hand on
the side of it. Of all Marc's chairs, this was the only truly simple
one. The others were ornate and extravagant. This one... was
different. It had a special feature that allowed a leg rest to be
pushed out, and for the back to lower down, to give the sitting
person great comfort, but the whole thing was just coated in plain
brown cloth over cotton. A simple chair. King Marc had never needed a
mighty throne; mighty men do not need them.*
*Hireshmont walks into King Marc's office, an area he had spent much
time in in the past. He gathers up the papers, and organizes them,
quietly putting them in their proper places. He handles a few of the
peasant petitions, assuming the role of de facto King for a day,
until Queen Baiko was officialy reinstated, or he himself was elected.*
*A man, Marc's butler, walks in*
"Sir... we are making preparations for the coronation tommorrow of
the new King or Queen. But... we find that we are lacking the crown,
the scepter, and the royal ring. We have a seal, we can mold a new
ring, but we don't have the original crown...." the butler looks
distraught.
*Hireshmont smiles.*
"I know where a crown can be found... a crown I doubt any Riombaran
in living memory knows of, a Crown they will deny, a Crown they will
not accept. Yes, mold a new ring. But, for a scepter... let there be
none. Instead, let our next monarch have the sword as a scepter. We
live in times of war, we are a warrior people. Let the blade be our
scepter."
