The following missive was circulated amongst nobles in Lasanar, and posted
in the odd common room:

Nobles of Lasanar,

We have today done away with the threat of armed revolt for the second time
in as many months, and the truth of it is so strange that barely my eye did
see it.

Those of us on the council labor to be worthy of your trust every day of our
lives. We may not have always made the best decisions, for we are many and
we are as failable as any human, but the only thing we can do is to put
before the realm a full accounting of our actions and the reasoning that
leads us to do the things we do.

In this instance, we have been following the threat of rebellion for some
time now. There was much more behind-the-scenes orchestration going on this
time -- more devious minds working to keep things secret. We had to employ
every tool at our disposal to learn the identity of these traitors.

It is always a difficult thing to be a member of a Republic and to see
issues you care about carried away in the tide of public or council opinion.
Some of the members of the would-be rebellion are very likely convinced that
they are somehow sacrificing themselves for a greater Lasanar.

But no matter how great your cause or justified your intentions, it is the
lowest thing to back them with your knife in secrecy rather than your voice
in open forum. Particularly in a free Republic such as this, there is no
greater shame than to slink about in the shadows and misdirect the attention
of the Law with ptches, colors, glistening semblances of piety.

It is therefore with great shame and sadness that I condemn the following
nobles as traitors, and declare them banished from the realm:

- Ser Pragus, Imperial Knight
- Lady Syren of Abilotiel
- Count Caesare of Aanos
- Duke Doyle of Colasan

Never in all my time here in Lasanar have we gone to such great lengths to
uncover a plot. Doing so has required great courage and sacrifice from many
nobles of the realm who risked their lives and their reputations on errands
for the Court, not always knowing why they were doing what they were doing.

Count Caesare and Duke Doyle have also been advocates for a very legitimate
discussion of late relating to the composition of the council. I hope
everyone feels free to continue discussing this issue, for it has nothing to
do with the rebellion. Both of these nobles have contributed much good to
Lasanar in the past, but treason infects the very air around us, no matter
what prior good has been done. The council was consulted with respect to
Duke Doyle, whose removal we do not take lightly, and voted overwhelmingly
in favor of it.

We have heard testimony from nobles across the realm and had the above named
nobles followed to illicit meetings. The danger they pose to the realm is
great and it is imminent.

To my own person I seek no revenge, but our Republic's safety, whose ruin
you have sought, must be paramount; and so unto her laws do I deliver you.
Let example breed, by your sufferance, no more of such a kind.

Sir Galiard
Grand Justiciar of Lasanar, Duke of Ossaet
