Ariana's hand flies out of its own accord, and delivers Hoshi a  
stinging slap across the cheek. Before the echo has faded, Ariana's  
voice, ringing with fury, snarls:

"We were not your friends? We have been attacked, slandered, accused,  
while you stood by and said nothing in our defense, and now you are  
driving us out, and we were not your friends? Hoshi, I once thought  
that you were a woman of reason, but it seems that some vile plague  
has claimed your wits. We have not sought to trample anyone's  
integrity or dignity. We have only sought to maintain our own. We  
have ignored no one: no one came to us in the first place. I have not  
slandered your husband, for he is dead. We have never sought to  
promote hate and intolerance, except of those who hate Svunnetland  
and what it has always stood for.

"Hoshi, you are as Einar said: faithless, and unable to stand for  
yourself. You let yourself be blown wherever the prevailing winds  
take you. You were Judge, but you were unable to make a Judgement,  
even when the plain facts were staring you in the face.

"You want us to leave?

"Fine. We will go, and Svunnetland and all in it may fall into the  
Pits of Aya for all I care."

She turns her back on Hoshi, and takes Morthwyl's arm to pull him  
along with her.
