<i>Hoshi left the tower walls for the inside of the keep. She looked for Morthwyl and Ariana. Approaching the couple she said,</i>"For longer than I should have allowed the two of you have run roughshod over the nobles of this realm. You have insulted the integrity and noblity of every lord, lady and knight of the kingdom if they failed to bow to your ideals. You have for far to long either ignored those who would speak to you or you have berated them for the questions they ask and the beliefs they hold. I can no longer stand by silently and watch you two destroy from with in the land that I am sworn to protect. I have allowed you to slander the character and name of my husband. I have joined you upon occasion in that slander and I will pay dearly for my part in that I know. I have indeed paid more than I wished to for my silence as well as my words and actions.
Your secret plots against me in the past are not as secret as you would have hoped for there are always those willing to gain the graces of the Queen by delivering to her the names of those who plot rebellion. In fact your words have often betrayed your intentions where I am concerned. Though I have chosen often in the past to pass these intentions off I can see it would no longer be wise of me to do so.
I have let the hate and intolerance the two of you promote fester for far to long for fear of loosing my friends. I no longer fear this, for in recent weeks I see that perhaps you were not my friends after all. I no longer fear this, for ruling a kingdom is no popularity contest and if none stand with me when the day is done I know that the gods of these Faded Lands will stand with me because it is through the gods I find my direction, my path.
It is time for you two to step aside and let those who would value every member of this realm lead these lands to a more prosperous future.
The gods have spoken. Your Queen has spoken. I will allow you time to get your things in order, but do not tarry over long for I have watched patiently for far too long and I will not tolerate any more of the destruction you sew in the garden of Svunnetland."
"Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?
