*As William was working among his troops, after the recent attack of monsters, as well, attacks on his person, by Einar, he wasn't in the best of moods. He didn't worry too much, simply, Einar's charges were hard to prove....among others, it was his fault. Then the monster problem had occupied his time, and he declined to ask for assistance, as he felt, there would be none coming. A messenger broke his contemplations, with a note*
William, your information is needed at the barracks, it seems someone is looking for you.
*nods, and brings along a small contingent, to resupply. On foot, they make good time, and William has them set up outside. As he sets foot inside, he hears the sliding of a blade, dropping one arm, knocks the first blade aside*
Now now....whoever you are, I don't think that's how you make friends, in this realm....
*The person, one of shadow, slides to the side, grasping Williams right arm, turns, and then pops free a second, and thrusts it towards William's midsection, only to be caught by a boot to the ribcage. As the thrust comes to an end, the door, slid shut, is pounded on....William looks for a second...and the small dagger is in his right arm....causing William to drop Serko's neck....as William slides to the floor, the man turns, and crashes through the troops, in a ball, and starts to run, one of the men helps William up, and looks at him*
    William....what is going on?
*William, coughs, and starts to wrap the wound*
It seems as though, someone doesn't want me to testify at the impeachment of a royal....but as well, a royal tries to kill me....I wonder who sent him....
    *holds up Serko's sash*
I can give you three guesses...and all three would probably be right...
*The soldier lets William down on the floor, taking the sash*
    Don't worry William....heal up for a day, we'll send a medic...this won't go unpunished....Serko's treachery will be known....and whoever sent him.
*William closes his eyes, the second in command looks at the others*
Secure the region....and set out, word to the Queen, of what's happened....we have evidence, of treachery, in the Realm.
Meta: As so far, only Serko, and William, who is wounded, know whats happened. Hoshi would learn of it, and whoever sent Serko....and probably all of SL is aware of what's going on.
Some soldiers and local lords had heard about what William Draconis had done. It all seemed to match up and fit with the events. No man liked men that went about trying to seduce other mens wives, all the fun none of the hard work of building and maintaining a relationship... just a vulture swooping in on difficult times. Many were of the opinion that this vulture was particularly heinous. His actions had seen the illness and near death of their Queen and the disappearance and near lose of their King.

Draconis' shouts about personality issues fell on mostly deaf ears. All the Warrior Caste were elitist and tended to bleed the people dry. Most took meaningless flattery to be genuine approval and the most dense of them thought they were loved and adored. How was it that I class that was generally made up less than .05% the population yet have power over the whole of the population and demand in upwards of a quarter of all wealth still want so much more. These of the Warrior caste were not even a significant percentage of the nobility and they didn't toil at all, a rare days work they might pat themselves on the back, but even the nobles of the lands worked 6 days a week and all other 7. Messing with another mans wife, was even loathsome for one of these types, many wondered what it was that this William Draconis expected.

If it weren't for divine right these people would not be in power for long. People enjoyed having roofs that didn't leak and food in their stomachs. Maybe some time have a thought or two. Whoever provided that regardless of there already self centered personality, was good in the masses books.

William Draconis had gone further. He had gone about killing messengers. Their only crimes was the livery they wore, that of the most powerful and influential men of the land. He killed them and made the peasantry dig their graves. The local landlord lost money and his taxes would not change for that lost time, the peasants had to tighten their belts for their landlord still demanded his tribute. Everyone suffered in this except the man that murdered innocent messengers carrying a message they did not write or even word... messages that were never seen by the "Warrior" doing the killing.

The green cloaks came in their guises, a few were mistaken for travelers, most were more savvy than that. The people told their tales as if they didn't know the difference though. They might be able to blend in cities but in a place that boasted only about 1 person every 2 square miles there is an ebb and flow to life, and people tended to know travelers from members of secret societies. These people were give the only chance they might ever get to actually talking to their queen.
