Seeing the duel in the distance, Thrasymaque stands still as he sees Rekio land the fatal blow to Khyber. That was a duel of honor, it was led honorably. Khyber was a brave warrior and a proud Ethialan, his memory will be untarnished by any kind of disgrace.

  So he tells himself

“Arcaean dog! Another Ethialan death on the account of Arcaea! Now more than ever, I hate myself for preventing the annihilation of Arcaea to happen sooner simply because of my sympathy for Yarah. These people are bloodthirsty like no other. How can they blame Ethiala, Lasanar or Sartania since all we did is fight for control while they boldly murder our nobles? How many Arcaeans died over the last years? How many Ethialans, Lasanarians? And they dare!?!”

He calms down. Anger and hatred are useless
 but vindictiveness may be justified!

“Ethiala and Arcaea waged many wars in the past. All were eventually concluded by a more or less friendly ceasefire. We even had peace once or twice. Not this time, never.”

He turns away and moves toward King Osric. The Ruler of Ethiala never cries, but his face appears to be as wounded as his my by the death of Kyber.

“King Osric, once we return to Topenah, we will mourn our old friend properly. For now, vengeance is on the agenda. Their nobility deserves no pity, their people deserves no kindness. For as long as someone calls himself an Arcaean, he must be an enemy of Ethiala. And it must be known to all. It must be deep felt retribution. As far as I can see, there is no reason why the people of Ethiala should not be filled by an irrevocable hatred against Arcaea.”

Thrasymaque could have never foreseen that he was to say these words but he would have never expected Count Khyber to die in such a frustrating manner. So he did.
