I've had exactly the same issue (thugh I wouldn't call it a "problem" as 
such) - however, you seem to get what I presume is the 10K family gold 
fame point at 9997 anyway so anything else is just perfectionism.

Also, I believe the reason investments and family support won't help you 
get rid of the extra 2 out of 5 gold is because they always work in 
rounds numbers (tens and fives). I presume the only way to get back to 
round numbers is either to pledge family ransom at a convenient time 
(doing that was how I got mine onto an odd number) or have a character 
die with the right amount of gold on hand to have 3 (+ any multiple of 
5) of it gathered back to the family coffers.
