I am wondering the same thing. There is a bug on stable that prevents
any new knight being put into the army, and since all council members
were removed from all armies recently (when they lost positions etc)
they can't be readded. So just as we're embarking on our campaign, my
General/Marshal character of our 30 people realm has been pulled out of
the army and unable to send orders (as well as the other council members).
I sent my orders as requests yesterday and signed them as the Marshal of
the army, because she is in fact is the Marshal, and has been for a long
time. I figured the bug was the cause of not being able to play by the
"rules" and was hoping that there /would/ be micromanagement tolerance
shown.
