Given the long nature of the initial comment, I'm not going to repeat it here, but I agree 100%. I imagine that the Far East Island was originally meant to be a remedy to this problem of roleplaying, but even that seems to have fallen in on itself. I admit that I don't have time to write roleplays for both of my characters on FEI every day, but there are people who hold positions of power in my realm who I do not hear speak, let alone roleplay. The vast majority of RP in my realm is contained to a handful of players to whom it is appropriate to write roleplays based on infiltrating another noble's home and stealing her undergarments. I wouldn't be sure, but I can guess that this is one contributing reason to the number of people who just don't roleplay on FEI anymore.
It's not that I don't enjoy an occasional bit of comedy. Most of the more humor-based roleplayers are alright from time to time. The badgers at Atamaran tournaments were mildly amusing the first time. But if I remember correctly, that was a year or more ago. It's really obnoxious now, but the same people keep bringing it up over and over again.
The concept of an 18+ island is an intriguing one that I wouldn't mind seeing played out, but one that I don't see working in any way shape or form. To most people under 18, the thought has probably arisen to lie about their age. Ask any boy (or girl, I suppose) who's tried to look up dirty pictures or videos online. Most sites will have a big notice on it that says "Don't click here to proceed unless you're 18 or older." And the likelyhood that they're going to heed that warning is 0. There's no way (at least, no way that doesn't brush on illegal) to ensure that people are telling the truth.
