I really, really support this idea. At least the randomly dying due to
accidents or diseases, and I also support an increasing chance of
randomly falling ill and losing position, after 45 or so. One of the
things I crack my head about is the old age thing. I understand Tom
wouldn't want people to just lose a character they worked so hard on,
but also, I think life is that way, and characters dying of old age is
almost necessary for greater turmoil.

And this is one of the best ideas I have seen lately for decreasing
the number of people that just substitutes their characters in a
regular basis. I've lost good friends in battle and got happy when I
saw them return under another name, but I feel it is better for the
game if we have characters spread out. Perhaps the hardness to gain
prestige and honor could be greater according to the previous
character's position. If he was a ruler, the new member will have a
really hard time, while if he was a simple knight, there could be no
difficulty at all. Also, this trouble could decrease as time passes,
so you can create a character there after, say, 6 months, without much
trouble. Or longer, again, if you were ruler or some council position.
This would also mean that after a long time your character would be
gaining honor and prestige according to the regular formula.
It is a change that might make people at least consider not doing it
continuously.
