With the current BT invasion plot, lots of nobles have unique 
items that need repaired. Each repair you do is an opportunity for 
a recommenation.

In fact, I have sent out three requests, practically begging for 
adventurers to repair my unique items. I'm the ruler of the realm, 
sent the message to six or seven advies in my realm, and offered 
recommendations and gold.

I got responses from two advys. The same two, all three times. 
One just recently was ennobled.

I even sent messages to the rulers of the two realms nearest me, 
asking them to ask their freemen if they were interested in 
repairing it for gold/recommendations. Not a single response.

I finally did get one item repaired, but the other decayed and 
disappeared.

The opporunities are there, at least on BT, and not just from 
hunting.

I'm not sure how you could increase the demand for unique items 
on other islands, though. The name on huge battle reports is 
good, but not quite enough, I think.
