Subject: [Discuss] Guild Treasury
I have a character (infiltrator) who was suddenly left responsible for
an Assassin's guild a few months ago. I have been playing the character
as shady and willing to make this guild profitable, but have encountered
a few game mechanics that has not allowed this to fully play out. This
may be an intended feature or simply just not thought out all the way so
I thought I would share my understanding and hope that someone could
help explain or at the minimal place this suggestion on a list for
future improvements. If neither happens I won't complain, but will have
felt that I tried.
As it exists now guilds are unable to collect payments from characters
willing to pay for the Assassination of another player. I role played
this by having the "client" player place a bounty on the head of the
target player which the game allows and this has worked out for the
Assassin player. However, I would like to make the guild money and
often the contracts are designed where the player who contacts the guild
would pay a "finder's fee" for the guilds help in locating and hiring
the Assassin (which in my imagination is why the guild would even
exist). The problem is that there is no way to collect gold on behalf
of the guild to place in the guild treasury from individual players.
The guild rarely contracts with realm governments so I don't know if
that feature is available for a King, Banker etc to deposit gold in
support of the guild, but I would think either an individual or realm
could hire an Assassin for whatever purposes as part of game play. I
know that the game is designed to limit gold transaction from occurring
so maybe the guild could collect the gold having it placed in the
treasury, but have guild leaders limited from touching the guild
treasury to prevent abuse. The gold would then be used to pay for guild
costs etc., making the role play more realistic? There are other
reasons players would pay gold i.e. to have an Assassination disrupt a
region, assault milita, destroy storehouses etc, but the guild is
limited from offering these services as well because the bounty system
will not work for those reasons. In any case, if it is a reasonable
request it would be nice to see the guild elder(s) have a little more
flexibility to use payments of gold for the guild as a whole and/or have
a bounty system modified in some manner to offer other types of guild
services.
Thanks for any consideration.
============
I just wanted to bump this back up to the top of everyone's list for
discussion. I think it is an idea that has some merit but perhaps I'm
the only one?
