I wasn't asking them to.  I was asking one of their guards (that I 
wanted them to roleplay) speaking to someone.  Because you're right, why 
would the noble bother talking to a peasant?  Hence what Timothy 
suggested, and I'd already done, of talking via NPCs.

Now that's a cunning plan.  Will remember that for next time.  It was 23 
days ago that we last communicated, so that would just about have worked 
this time.
