How about the ability to form a brand new realm located anywhere on the
island, including regions not continguous with your own realm?
If you don't like the game mechanics restrictions imposed on a new colony,
then don't create one. Go for a normal TO and secession, like the people in the
Grand Duchy of Fissoa, Melodia, and Sadowvar.
I'm sorry that your plans for a new realm did not go completely according to
your plan. But the game is not to blame for your misunderstanding of game
mechanics.

Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with the software.
