Not necessarily.  What I'm saying is that its not accurate to say that
a realm would drop absolutely everything to attack instantly.  In BM
it is only a few days travel, at most, to switch fronts.  In "this
time in history", it would have cost a ridiculous amount of resources,
time, and probably lives from disease through travel and desertions,
and the rulers and generals would know that.  I think there were
probably numerous times when a secession went ignored, at least for a
long period of time, simply because it would have left the mother
realm so weakened to attack it.

I disagree.  I think the concept of appeasement still holds.  We were
a group of people who could easily be considered "troublesome" to the
current political situation, but not to the extent that it would be
nearly appropriate to ban us.  What is the response?  "Here, why don't
you just take this land, go over here and do what you want, just leave
us alone.", especially in lands the size of Fontan, where there is so
much land that giving portions of it away would not seem to be a big
deal, if there is a headache to be saved on the part of the people on
top.
