Well, since you posted it here, I guess I'll give my two cents. Here's where I
think the problem was, in this first message:

Someone who is not a marshal, second-in-command, or liege lord of the people
concerned is telling these people that he will give them orders. He had no
authority to give them orders. The fact that he was appointed *4 hours later* is
not important. At the time he said he was going to be giving them orders he
had no athority to do. Zap!

Except that he was *not* SiC when he said he was going to be giving out
orders. If I walk into a car dealership and take a car without paying for it, that's
stealing, even if I intend to go buy that very same car tomorrow.

If you can use the red paper, then do it. Don't try and tell people that the
black/blue/green paper is really red.

Yes, one person can be both general and marshal/SiC. This is the way it is set
up in two realms I am in, and we don't have any problems with it at all.

This was not the problem.

In my opinion the general should have said something like: "The sponsor will
soon be appointing me as the new marshal/SiC so I can give orders for the
army."

It has nothing to do with how many different characters hold how many
different positions. You're barking up the wrong tree. The message from the
Titans showed exactly where the issue was: Someone who was not marshal or
SiC told people he was going to be giving them orders.

Yes, the general can also be the marshal or the SiC.

Weekends don't count unless you spend
them doing something completely pointless.
