Something else to consider here is that for those who have an
adventurer that became a knight, they'd have to kill off *two* of
their characters to recreate a new one.  Heck, even for those that
have still just an adventurer, it's the same case.

So you're likely very right in saying that there won't be an increase
in adventurers on any island.  But not necessarily for the reason you
propose.
