You cannot tell someone that they can't have their character think
certain things. If someone roleplays their character thinking
things, you cannot respond to that directly, because you cannot,
indeed, have your character "hear" their characters' thoughts.
What you *can* do is roleplay your character thinking sadly about the
state of things, when people believe X when Y is really the case, and
other such things...including, as Jonathan said, very unflattering
things about their characters ;-)
